Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital & Clinics is seeking a SECURITY EDUCATOR to join our SAFETY AND SECURITY team!

The Security Educator is a base position of Security Officer, and the position assumes the responsibility for staff development in the Security Department setting and within the hospital campus wide area in topics around security and hazard response. This position works to promote a safe, secure environment for staff, patients, and visitors at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital entities while following policies & procedures.  

HOURS: Full Time; 0.9 FTE or 72 hours per pay period. Day Shift.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • An Associate or Technical School degree or Certification in security management, teaching capacity or related professional field preferred.
  • Two years related experience desired with at least 1 year experience in hospital, healthcare or related security setting preferred
  • Possesses a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License required.
  • Must have the ability to be flexible in work hours including shift and days. May be required to work any shift or day, weekend, and holidays. May be required to work overtime without advance notice.
  • Possesses ability to operate computerized equipment, two-way radio, personal computer and related software.
  • Possesses outstanding communication skills such as tact, diplomacy, and de-escalation.
  •  Demonstrated effective communication skills including telephone etiquette and writing routine correspondence, logs and reports and presentation skills.
  •  Possesses ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
  •  Possesses and provides excellent customer service skills.
  •  Demonstrates self-restraint in challenging and/or difficult situations as well as maintains professional composure during emergency or in pressure circumstances.
  •  Must be able to work in inclement weather and in weather extremes.
  •  Possesses advanced skills in Microsoft Office – Excel, Power Point, Word
